Calendar: 11/02-11/07

Happy Halloween FAC members! Here's a calendar for the weekend that goes into the middle of next week; plenty of things to do if you don't have plans. This calendar goes with the last calendar post.


Friday, November 02
Ashes, Ashes - "A show for family audiences, Ashes, Ashes tells the story of a power plant, a mythical town and one girl's search for a secret that can possibly save her world. Written by Eve Tulbert; Directed by Dustin Wills." The show opens and plays throughout the weekend and coming week! Tickets are 13$/16$/10$ available at utpac.org or by phone at 512-477-6060. It starts at 8 PM.

Men's and Women's Chorus - This performance will take place at the Bates Recital Hall at 8 PM. For program details and information about the live webcast, check out the website. This is free!

Dance Action Presents: Soles Connect - This student group is going to perform and has also come up with their own choreography. Enjoy the show for free at the Lab Theatre near the Winship. It starts at 8 PM and there will be a repeat show the following day, Saturday, November 03.

Public Lecture: Jack Zipes - "Jack Zipes, internationally-renowned fairy tale scholar, activist, and storyteller, gives a lecture entitled 'And Nobody Lived Happily Ever After: The Feminist Fairy Tale and Its Consequences.' This talk coincides with the opening of Theatre and Dance mainstage production 'Ashes, Ashes.'" The lecture will begin at 2 PM inside WIN 2.112.


Saturday, November 03
UT String Project Alternative Styles String Festival Concert - This concert features accomplished musicians Melissa Becker, Andrew Carlson, and Matt Turner. To read more about each musician, read the website.

Ashes, Ashes - The play starts at 8 PM!


Sunday, November 04
Ashes, Ashes - The play will have an afternoon show at 2 PM!


Monday, November 05
Chamber Singers - This performance will take place at the Bates Recital Hall at 8 PM. For program details and information about the live webcast, check out the website. This event is $5 for students.

Guest Artist: Sean Caulfield - "The Department of Art and Art History and the Guest Artist in Printmaking Progam presents artist Sean Caulfield in residence in the printmaking area." Sean Caulfield will be in ART 2.210 and will stay until November 09. For more information about the event, e-mail Sandra Fernandez at sandrafernandez@mail.utexas.edu.


Tuesday, November 06
Dean Search Student Forum - The forum is open to all students. If you've seen any of the dean candidates speak, be especially present and give your thoughts and opinions about the candidates to help the Dean Search Committee give their recommendation. The forum is in DFA 2.204 at 5 PM.

Few, Some, Several, Many, and More... Artist Talk - The artists of the current show at the Creative Research Lab will talk about their thoughts on their work and the idea behind the show. The talk starts at 7 PM inside the CRL (Creative Research Lab).


Wednesday, November 07
Muslim Students Association Fast-a-thon - Fast from 5:30 AM to 5:30 PM for a great cause! MSA is trying to raise money for the Capital Area Food Bank as a part of a nationwide campaign alongside Muslim Students Associations. To pledge and learn more, please visit the website.
