Calendar: 10/23-10/30

Hey ya'll! This week is full of things to do, especially if you're looking for things to do over the summer. Now is the time to explore those opportunities; pay special attention to the career/internship fairs if you're interested in jobs.

Tuesday, October 23
Dean Interviews: Douglas Dempster - As part of the search for the next CoFA dean, the dean candidates will participate in an open forum for students to ask questions. Be part of the process and voice your opinions at 5 PM in DFA 3.200.


Wednesday, October 24
Communiation Job & Internship Fair - Communications is having a job fair with many reps having opportunities for fine arts majors. If you're interested in being a production assistant, graphic designer, casting assistants, and more, than this is a fair you won't want to miss! The fair is at the Texas Union Ballroom from 12-5 PM.

Learning Tuscany Summer 2008 Informational - Interested in studying abroad in Tuscany for the summer? Attend this informational session in ART 1.120 from 6-8 PM.

Chamber Winds and Percussion Ensemble - The ensemble will play at the Bates Recital Hall starting at 8 PM. There will also be a live webcast available if you can't make it - the tickets are free, though! Check the website for details!


Thursday, October 25
Blanton MIX Party! - "Join the Blanton Student Guild as well celebrate our MIX! Yummy FREE food, music, dancing, cool art activities, door prizes and MORE!!

Explore the new Mike's World exhibition with fun art activities & entertainment. Come dressed in your favorite pair of CRAZY PANTS and enter our Crazy Pants Fashion Show. The person with the craziest pants wins a fabulous surprise. Or, sing your heart out in the karaoke contest for another amazing surprise gift." The event will be held between 8-11 PM at the Blanton Museum of Art.

"Up Against the American Dream" - "Charlotte Canning and Lucien Doulgas from the Department of Theatre and Dance weave together commentary and scenes from the plays of Arthur Miller in 'Up Against the American Dream.'" Watch the performance at the Harry Ransom Center at 7 PM.


Friday, October 26
bAd PeNnY Audition - "Open auditions for bAd PeNnY by Mac Wellman and directed by Luke Leonard (MFA in Directing). Seeking: Actors and Dancers with strong sense of language and the body for poetic, site-specific play. Rehearsing Nov 3-Dec 6 with performances in Dec/Jan (specifics TBD). Please send pictures and resumes to: badpenny_casting@lukeleonard.com." Auditions will be between 10 AM - 1 PM at WIN 2.116.

Øystein Baadsvik, Guest Tubist - Renowned and distinguished tubist, Øystein Baadsvik, will play for free at the Bates Recital Hall at 8 PM. To read more about Øystein Baadsvik, check out the website.
